The Sleeping Beauty

-The ballet's music: It's a well- known piece of music. It tells the life in the castle, gently for the birth of the princess, but it is terrifying when the bad witch appears. The music is dramatic when Aurora punctured with the needle. It is gentle when the Lilac Fairy make sleep all the people in the castle. The final part is incredible because in the third act there's the weeding scene and the princess and the prince are in love. It was written by Piotr Txaikovski. The general director of the Imperial Theatre of Saint Petersburg ask to Txaikovski to write the music. The choreography was created by Marius Petipa. This music excites all the people that hear it.

-The most important ballet performers: There are some like Carlotta Brianza- Pavel Gerdt (they were the main characters). The variations of the "Blue Bird" were performed by Enrico Cecchetti, Vaslav Nijinsky and Rudolf Nureiev. He performed the variations of the bad whitch, too. Maria, Petipa's daughter, performed the character of the Lilac Fairy. Aurora was also performed by Tamara Karsàvina, Natàlia Dudínskaia, Anna Pàvlova, Margot Fonteyn, Carla Fracci, Anna Razzi, Elisabeth Platel, Alessandra Ferri, Bernice Coppieters and Paola Cantalupo. Other ballet dancers that were the character of the Prince were Mikhaïl Baríxnikov and Manuel Legris.

-The technique: Difficult, difficult and another three times more difficult! The technique has to be performed with the highest level since the prologue. There are a lot of different variations in the day of the Aurora's birth. Like for example the dances of the fairies that you can see that sometimes are fast or gently or sometimes really delicate to express the highest point of the sensations of a professional ballet dancer. The Lilac Fairy performes the last variation with a lot of sissonnes and wonderful arabesques. The first ballerina, Aurora, starts dancing in a variation called "the Adagi of the Rose" because in the prologue she only is a baby. It's a really difficult variation because the dancer has to hold her hand with the four suitors while she is in attitude in lace. She has to practice her balance moments. That's an important moment because then the audience know how good is this ballet dancer. All of the variations of Aurora are complicated but in the last act, the princess and the prince have to do a complete good technique. This act is theact "divertissement" with lots of pas de deuxs about different well- known tales. The most important is the Blue Bird.

-The ballet's dresses: All the boys wear the typical ballet dancer's dress although including some decorations made of cristal that shine under the focus. The tutu is really short because Aurora has to show her legs to show the possible perfect and amazing technique. This tutu is complitely beautiful because of all the details and the colour that sometimes is pink or sometimes is a gold colourThe fairies wear a tutu that is a little bit longer. The costumes of the nobles are very sumptuous. The costume of the bad Witch is normally black.
