Swan Lake

-The ballet's music: Swan Lake is the first ballet composition written by Txaikovski and with the Sleeping Beauty and the Nutrcracker, he created some of the most beautiful music in the history of dance. The union between the music and the classic dance is fundamental and it is perfect because of the influence of Txaikovski and the choreographers: Ivanov and Petipa. He created an absolutely great symphony. At the first time that he represented the ballet the audience said that it was a little bit difficult so it wasn't succesful during this time. When it was succesful Txaikovski was already dead. Petipa and Riccardo Drigo changed some parts of the partiture and some scenes of the ballet, too. However the rythims and the lyric of Txaikovski is still represented in the booklet.

-The most important ballet performers: The main character has two faces: Odette and Odile in some different types of acts. They represent the fight between the good and the evil. The best performer was Pierina Legnani. Then there were another like: Pelagueia Mikhàilovna Karpakova. It's really difficult to perform in the correct way this type of dance so only few people can do that. These are someones like: Olga Preobrajènskaia, Galina Ulànova, Alícia Markarova, Maria Tallchief, Margot Fonteyn, Carla Fracci, Marcia Haydée, Anna Razzi, Vera Colombo, Luciana Savignano, Margherita Parrilla, Gabriella Tessitore, Sylvie Guillem, Agnès Letestu, Svetlana Zakhàrova and Aurelie Dupont. The boy main character has some performers like: Paolo Bortoluzzi, Mikhaïl Baríxnikov and Rudolf Nureiev. Nureiev was the most incredible one. There were more: Manuel Legris, Adam Cooper, José Martínez, Roberto Bolle, Massimo Murrui and Mathieu Ganio that have to perfect their technique to try to get the level of Rudolf Nureiev.

-The technique: The mixture of Odette- Odile is one of the most difficult of the classical repertoire because the technique and the interpretation are complete and complex at the same time. Sometimes the two ballerinas are different in each character. The variations of the group of dance are difficult because they have to correct every position in each part of the ballet because they represent swans. One important part is the one that four small and similar ballerinas dance in a complicated and an extremeley difficult variation becaouse of the speed an the emboités. In the play Odile does 32 fouettés. So you have to practice a lot.

-The ballet's dresses: The tutu is the symbol of this ballet. It forms a perfect cercle when you do an arabesque. The white and the black tutu are a little bit different. The two swans wear two feathers around their heads. They wear a shiny headband. The prince, Siegfried is dressed with embroidered vest and stockings. The tutu is decorated with lots of feathers in different colours depending if you are Odette or Odile.
