In this page I'm going to introduce you some information about some healthy adivce to help you in your ballet habits and to know information about some abilities in ballet. Also, I'm going to answer some general questions about the relation between your age, your social life and your phisical constitution:
1. When can I begin studying dance?
You can choose depending on your own. However, it's better to begin studying dance when you are young, preferently, as a child. Let me explain you: Dancing is an artistic and sport activity, so you have to decide if it is the activity which you want to do to train your body.
Normally, children start dancing when they are five or six years old and they dance and play some games to have fun. The hardest courses start when you are eleven years old so when you are five or six, you have to prepare yourself for training a lot in the future.
When you are a child you have to stimulate your psychomotor, the harmonious movement. You have to learn about thinking in the rate of the music and you must cordinate it with your body.
But remember! You are in a group of people dancing like you and you have to get on well with this people, it's necessary if you want to perform a perfect choreography,
Obviously, if you are an adult, you can dance because dancing helps you to cordinate your body, to harmonize it and to move yourself in a better way. It helps about your perspective when you are moving around a specific area. You will be more fit, too.
When you are dancing you have to remember to put your feet long stretch, put your back in straight way, etc. You can improve your musical sense with the obligatory dance exercices.
2.What can you do if you have flat feet?
If the future ballet dancer is six years old, all of her body and also her feet will change if it's flat. So, don't worry about that. That's why we practice some exercices withouth making a first position, only to prepare your feet. It also helps you with your knees. This happens to the back, too. You only have to walk in a correct way and if you do it well, all of these defects will change in the growth period, eleven years old. In this point children start making some more difficult exercicies in dance classes.
However there are some problems that are a little bit more complicated so you have to call a doctor and ask him/her if he/she can help you to solve that.
3. Which are the sports that you cannot do?
If you are a boy and you want to be a professional ballet dancer, you have to stop doing football because it's a hard sport and it strengthen muscles. The potential is different in both activities. It's difficult to practive ski because it cause you the increasing of muscle mass in the legs and thighs.
Riding is a bad sport if you practice ballet because it configures your back in a way that will change your dancer figure. Although, you can practice a lot of sports, too: swimming (really good if you practice ballet) and gymnastics (you could have some problems at first because of the different movements and the technique, but it's also a good sport to practice and you possibly will improve.
4. What is the best diet for a dancer?
It's a really important fact! You don't have to accumulate a lot of weight if you don't want to become more tired in your ballet class. You must eat five times a day: Two breakfasts, a complete lunch, a snack and a complete dinner. The specialize dietitians recommend fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates, protein and vegetable fats (not animal fats). Obviously you can't forget the water. You could become dehydrated so after a ballet class you must drink a lot of mineral water or fruit juices, natural preferently. And don't worry: if you want to have a cup of xocolate, you can have it! But not abuse.
